The Liberal Party wants Sandra Pupatello to run in this falls federal election

Former Liberal MPP Sandra Pupatello is 'considering' a run in federal politics.

She says the party is aggressively recruiting her to run in the upcoming federal election and she's flattered.

While she is taking it seriously and not dismissing it, Pupatello admits timing is everything.

Regardless of her decision, she says Windsor needs a voice at the table.

"I know there has been a lot of phone calls that I have been fielding and people are being pretty aggressive about that point, that maybe this is the time and that's great I'm not sure that's time for me, those are the kinds of things that I got to sort out," says Pupatello.

She was a MPP for the Ontario Liberal party from 1995 to 2011 in Windsor-West, holding several key cabinet positions during that time. She also ran unsuccessfully to be leader of the Ontario Liberal Party, losing to Kathleen Wynne.

Regardless of her decision, she says Windsor needs a voice at the table.

"I'm tired of us being in the wilderness, I can't stand that. I know what it was like when Dwight {Duncan} and I were in cabinet, picking up the phone and getting something to happen was a dream for us and was fantastic and I want us to return to those days here," says Pupatello.

New Democrat MP Brian Masse has served Windsor West in the House of Commons since 2002 and is running again for the seat. The Conservative Party of Canada has picked Henry Lau as its candidate.

The federal election is set for October 21, 2019.
