New features this year included LED Chair Swings, Step n Lights, Singing Trees, and Adirondack chairs and fire tables set up around the park.

It's the last weekend to enjoy Bright Lights Windsor at Jackson Park.

The annual lights display opened on December 1, 2023 and will run until Sunday evening.

Speaking on AM800's The Morning Drive, Windsor mayor Drew Dilkens says it's been another great year for the lights.

New features this year included LED Chair Swings, Step n' Lights, Singing Trees, and Adirondack chairs and fire tables set up around the park.

Dilkens says this is your last chance to check out the event.

"This will be the last weekend, the Market will be open Friday and Saturday. There will be a movie showing, thanks to our partners at the Windsor International Film Festival, they'll be broadcasting some holiday movies on Friday and Saturday from 6 [p.m.] until 9 [p.m.], so it's your last chance to check it out this year."

He says snow during the event gives it a different feel.

"It didn't happen this year but I think a lot of people are also happy that they had 50 degree, or almost 60 degree weather in December for a few days. So, still a great event no matter what the weather is like and I know people have enjoyed it. And we look forward to their feedback, and how we can improve it for 2024."

The mayor adds that ideas from the holiday event at Campus Martius Park in Detroit, which has a lodge for visitors, may be considered in Windsor.

"Board games for people to play, and a bar, and the TV's were on, it's just a really nice atmosphere that they've put on there. And so it's one of the things we should consider, there'd be a cost to it but I'm sure people would love it."

The event runs every night from 5:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

During last year's event, over 100,000 people attended to see the displays, and visit local vendors.
