Another indication of how soon the FINA World swimming championships will being.
Training for the nearly 800 volunteers begins at the WFCU Centre today.
Volunteer Manager Jake Clement says sessions are set up to run through the week, and each volunteer is assigned a session to attend.
He says the sessions will have 2 components, an orientation to begin, then specific training for the role the volunteer will perform.
Clement says the exact roles for each volunteer will be explained to the volunteer by their area supervisor.:
He says you'll be able to spot the volunteers easily: "there will be a uniform, all volunteers are receiving uniforms from Arena one of FINA's official partners and they will be purple, so you'll have 800 people running around the city in purple shirts during event time"
The volunteer roles are broken into 6 categories; Operations, Protocol and Communications, Accreditation, Transportation, Medical and Basket Carriers.
Clement says some of the volunteer roles will begin ahead of the actual competition starting December 6th.
