As the dust settles from Monday night's municipal election, we're seeing many fresh faces around the table.
Among those are several new women resulting in an increase in female representation in Windsor-Essex.
Overall, of the 62 council seats available across the region, 14 are now held by women - that includes six brand new councillors.
Anita Riccio-Spagnuolo is one of those new councillors.
She was elected in LaSalle and says it's nice to know women are being taken seriously.
"I just think it's wonderful that the women are stepping up and wanting to represent themselves in a positive way in our community. We have some great ideas, we take a stand and we fight just as hard as men do. It's a great thing that women are being seen like that in our community and seen that we are a force to be reckoned with."

Kelsey Santarossa is new to municipal politics as well.
She was elected in Lakeshore, and at just 25-years-old, she's urging more young people to get involved.
"The amount of times I'm told by people my own age, younger or older, that I don't talk about politics because it's difficult. No, learn how to have a difficult conversation. You're not always going to agree with everybody. That's part of the joy of being involved in the community and in politics. That's what should be reflected in policy and development."
Not only are there more women on councils, several current members have shifted into higher profile positions.
Hilda MacDonald won the mayor's race in Leamington while Tracey Bailey and Crystal Meloche are taking over deputy mayor positions in Lakeshore and LaSalle.
Something Santarossa calls a major inspiration.
"Seeing women I consider role models and influential stakeholders in the community move up the ranks is beyond inspiring. So to know it's possible and the path has been paved is great to see."
Other new faces include Kim DeYong and Laura Lucier in Kingsville, Kim Verbeek in Essex and Patricia Simone in Amherstburg.
New councils for the city and the region's seven municipalities will be sworn in in early December.
Just 12 women held seats across the region during the 2014-2018 term.
