Provincial police are launching Operation Corridor, targeting transport trucks using all the major routes across Ontario.
The safety blitz today and tomorrow comes as new data shows there have been 25 fatal crashes involving a transport truck this year, up 25% compared to the same time a year ago.
The OPP has responded to a total of 3,047 transport truck-related crashes so far this year, with investigations pointing to the driver of the transport truck as the at-fault driver in a large number of the collisions.
During the two day blitz, police will be looking for bad driving habits and safety issues involving transport trucks.
