Health Canada is recalling a brand of frozen berries nationwide due to concerns of salmonella contamination.
Hain Celestial Canada, ULC is pulling Europe's Best Field Berry Mixes from the shelves, according to The Canadian Food Inspection Agency.
The recall includes 600g bags of field berry mix and 2kg bags of four-field berry mix. There has been no reported illness associated with the recall, which was triggered by a recall in another country.
A CFIA investigation to verify that the industry is removing the recalled product from the marketplace is already underway. Recalled products should be thrown out or returned to the store where they were purchased.
According to Health Canada, food contaminated with salmonella may not look or smell spoiled, but can still make you sick.
Healthy people may experience short-term symptoms such as a fever, headache, vomiting, nausea, abdominal cramps, and diarrhea. Long-term complications may include severe arthritis. The elderly, children and those already ill are most at risk.
Anyone who has eaten the product and begins to feel ill should reach out to a health professional.
