Essex Mayor Wants Canadian National Anthem Played at Council Meetings

The mayor of Essex wants the Canadian national anthem played prior to the town's council meetings.
Larry Snively will be introducing a notice of motion at the town's council meeting on Monday.
He says he's been thinking about the idea for quite sometime and feels all municipalities should be playing the anthem prior to all council meetings.
"We do represent municipal government and in respect to our country, I think we should be playing the national anthem at every meeting," says Snively.
Snively says Essex county council and other local councils already play the national anthem.
"Representing this part of Ontario, in part of Canada, I think it should be done and every council should be doing it," says Snively.
He will introduce the motion on Monday but it won't be debated until the February 3rd council meeting.
Snively says he's confident his council colleagues will approve his request.
