The Warden of Essex County is happy with the progress the province is making to widen Highway 3.
A proposed plan shows the continuation of four lanes through Essex to Cameron Side Road West.
Tom Bain says this has been in the works for years.
"Certainly we've been on the Ministry's case. We've met with Minister Steven Del Duca to look at four lanes to the Town of Leamington all the way through, we've come up as far as the Town of Essex."
Bain says he won't stop pushing for more.
"We'd like to see that continue. Perhaps there are alternative solutions such as phasing it in and continuing it out. We'd like to continue to sit down with the Ministry and look at timing, look at getting these environmental assessments done on this project. We know it's not going to be done tomorrow, but we want to see it come into fruition."
Bain adds construction could start as soon as the spring of next year.
