Another amazing year for the Easter Seals Telethon.
The 35th annual event raised $201,265 during its six hour broadcast on CTV Windsor.
Telethon Chair Ram Sridhar says all the money goes to help local families buy equipment for their children with physical disabilities as well as send them to summer camp.
He says the donations change the lives of many families.
"You can see them over the years, if you spend some time with them and you talk to them, you realize that the help you give them is very significant. Here's the difference between a child and an adult in this situation, the child grows. So all the equipment has to change right? So there's that added cost almost on a yearly basis. That's why if you talk to the ambassadors, you talk to Easter Seals families, that's why they love Easter Seals, because it really does help them."
Sridhar adds Windsor-Essex continues to step up to the plate year after year.
"I want to thank Windsor and the greater community. It's always a pleasure to come on a day like this. Never surprised. People come out and Easter Seals is about the community. It takes a village to raise a child, it takes a community to help out an Easter Seals family. It's the whole community coming out on the day."
This year's telethon took place at Central Park Athletics and was hosted by AM800's own Kara Ro.
2017 marks the 95th anniversary for Easter Seals Ontario.
