District Fire Chief David Gillis says the fire burned mainly through the attic and roof line. "The home is pretty much intact on the first floor living area except that the whole roof is burned away, so the ceiling actually collapsed into the first floor.
"It was a difficult fire to fight," says Gillis. "It basically burned right through the middle of the home straight up through the roof. It was difficult to access because the fire moved along the roof line and we weren't able to go into the home."
No one was home at the time and no one was hurt.
Damage is estimated at $150,000 and the cause is not considered suspicious.
