Drive to your comfortability is the message from the OPP as southwestern Ontario is expected to be pounded by snow.
Environment Canada is calling for around 20 cm or 8 inches of snow by Friday night.
Chatham-Kent OPP Constable Jay Denorer says with storms like these, the best message is if you don't have to go out, don't.
And as always, slow down.
But for drivers who have to go out, Denorer suggests a full tank of gas and an emergency kit in case you end up in a ditch.
"Make sure you fuel up your vehicle before you leave," says Denorer. "The last thing you want to do is be almost out of gas when you go into the centre median and it is going to take us a while to get to you."
Denorer is also reminding drivers that you don't know what the snow is covering up. "When there is snow, there could be ice. Underneath the snow could be some ice or even black ice so just slow down."
"Driving below the speed limit is also a must," says Denorer. "Just drive to your comfortability, we still have people who think they have winter tires on, they have four by four in their vehicles that they go flying by the other people and a lot of times, I have been working on policing for 17 years, those people I will drive down the road a little bit further and I will see them in the centre median."
Denorer says it is always better to arrive to your destination late, instead of getting into an accident.
