A plan is in the works to make some esthetic improvements to some of Windsor's downtown parking garages.
Mayor Drew Dilkens says the condition of the Goyeau and Pelissier Street parking garages needs to improve.
He says the garages are safe, but he says their appearances and smells leave a lot to be desired.
"One thing I have talked about for a long time and one thing that came up with the discussion of the Pelissier parking garage are the conditions of the garages. Make no mistake, I'm a user of both the Pelissier and Goyeau and we have to do better," says Dilkens.
He says the garages leave a bad impression to visitors of the city core.
"I think the garages are in many ways unsightly. I think seeing broken tiles on the floor does not set the right tone. I think the smell that one encounters when you walk through the garages is not the type smell that makes it welcoming to be downtown or in the city of Windsor," says Dilkens.
Dilkens hopes the plan will be before council in early 2017 for consideration.
