A Toronto developer is ready to build in Windsor now that the economy is on the rebound.
NOC Development was given city approval in 2015 to build 30 homes in the area of Grand Marais Rd. and Plymouth Dr. in central Windsor. The homes are expected to be priced around $500,000 and range roughly from 1,900 to to 3,000 sq. ft.
All the homes will be two stories and have two-car garages.
Crews are expected to begin preparatory work this spring and the homes will likely be built by summer 2018.
Danna Wang with NOC feels the Windsor market badly needs new homes.
"The timing right now is almost perfect," says Wang. "The real estate market is very strong in the Windsor area and we wanted to come in and bring these supplies to the market."
Wang says 'help wanted' adds are already out to hire local construction teams.
"This is definitely a local project. All of our crews are going to be local," she says.

Wang says since the 2015 approval, NOC has been working with consultants to prepare for the project, but admits the turnaround in the unemployment rate in Windsor is a factor in starting construction.
"Employment is very, very strong right now compared to a few years ago when we first came to look at sites here, so I think that's a huge benefit to drive economic growth," says Wang.
She sees strong demand for new housing in the area with an improved employment rate and a major project like the Gordie Howe International Bridge on the horizon.
"There's a lot of big infrastructure projects coming up," says Wang. "There's a new international bridge and I think that will further boost employment and further create strong infrastructure to support the growth of this region."
Wang adds those interested in the homes can register on its website. Click here for more.
