A deadline is looming for local elementary students who have incomplete immunization records.
Students born in 2008-2011 with incomplete records will be suspended for up to 20 days if their vaccines aren't up-to-date by September 28th, 2017.
On September 1, 2017, about 2,300 letters were sent out to parents and guardians informing them of the deadline.
The notices indicated which vaccines were missing and how to get in touch with the health unit to provide updated information.
If a student is suspended, the health unit will need to received an updated immunization record in order to return to school.
"We will be providing extra nurses at the immunization clinic, to assist those who do not have a primary health care provider," says Judy Allen, manager of the Healthy Schools program at the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit.
