City council will make a decision on the future of east Windsor's Lakeview Park Marina Monday night.
On May 17th, officials decided to close 200 sold-out recreational boat slips for the entire season because high water levels made them unsafe.
A consulting firm provided administration with a long-term solution — floating docks.
That's according to Executive Director of Recreation and Culture Ray Mensour.
The overall cost could hit $3-million, but with the damage sustained this spring and the docks hitting 40 years old Mensour says it's the best move.
He says saying goodbye to the stationary posts holding up the current dock system will ensure high waters will never be a factor again.
"If we chose that option to proceed it would adjust to the fluctuating water levels," he says.
Mensour has been in touch with many long-time dock users and says so far everyone is willing to wait.
"You know we understand that the marina has to be closed this year due to the high water levels, but hopefully it will be resolved so we don't run into similar issues in the future," he says.
Mensour says he's hearing most boaters are willing to endure some short turn pain for a long-term solution.
"We understand things are out of our control, but as long as the situation is rectified so we don't run into this situation year after year I think the majority of them will be happy," he says.
The fuel docks, launch ramps, and tours to Peche Island will remain open as long as water levels and safety permits.
Mensour says the goal is to have the docks ready for spring 2020.
Close to $300,000 in revenue will be lost due to the closure this year.
