The hospital in Leamington is switching to just credit and debit card

Erie Shores Healthcare in Leamington is making a big change to the way hospital visitors pay for parking.

As of Monday, July 1, coins will no longer be accepted as payment for parking.

In the future, only credit and debit cards will be accepted for parking payments at the hospital.

Spokesperson Arms Bumanlag says the token system will still be operational.

"The token system is greatly utilized by our dialysis patients and our St. Elizabeth patients," he says. We have heard from them and some of their concerns and those tokens are still going to be accepted and they can be purchased at the business office, Monday-to-Friday from 8am to 4pm."

To help with the change, Bumanlag says they're going to have extra people in place on a temporary basis.

"We do have some additional security that are going to be in place starting on July 1st," he says. "We expect to help to educate people and navigate them through the new method of payment and sort of re-educate our public and our patients on this new payment procedure."
