A 21-year-old city man wants Windsor city council to reconsider its decision to spend $3-million on a new holiday lights festival at Jackson Park.
Brett Henderson started an online petition after Monday night's vote, with hopes of council scrapping its plans for the festival.
He tells AM800 news, he realizes the petition was created after a decision was made but feels there is still time for residents to speak out and put a stop to the event.
"I would love the debate and the conversation to re-open," says Henderson. "I think there's nothing wrong putting pride aside, putting whatever aside, I don't think there's anything wrong with opening a conversation and including the people that put you where you are."
On Monday, city council voted 6-5 in favour of spending $3-million on a new lighting festival for Jackson Park.
The event will see holiday displays set up at the park during the months of December and January.
