At least one mayoral candidate in the City of Windsor is calling for an independent municipal auditor general.
Matt Marchand says he would appoint an auditor general within his first 100 days in office.
"I will appoint an independent municipal auditor general reporting to council and the municipality with wide ranging responsibilities including value for money, proper process for decision making, purchasing bylaws and will cover all city entities such as EnWin, Adventure Bay, Windsor International Airport, land transactions and others," says Marchand.
Current mayor Drew Dilkens is seeking re-election and says Price Waterhouse Cooper already looks into city entities.
"They've been looked at, they've been audited, they already fall under the scope of Price Waterhouse Cooper who reports out fully transparently and have full disclosure in public sessions with city council," says Dilkens.

Marchand says residents sense something is not right with city hall's transparency and processes.
"The current administration has had four years to appoint an auditor general," says Marchand. "Why won't candidate Drew Dilkens appoint an auditor general."
Dilkens says his opponent wants to talk about transparency at city hall but he seems to have selected memory.
"He was in the mayor's office when MFP happened and he was in the mayor's office when Canderel happened," says Dilkens. "He was in the mayor's office when taxes went up dramatically and he was in the mayor's office when the infrastructure deficit. He was also in the mayor's office when the debit in this city grow to $229-million."
Ernie Lamont, Frank Dyck and Tom Hensel are also running for mayor.
