If approved in the 2017 budget, a bulk pick-up program may be implemented in Windsor.
For a fee of around $20, residents could buy a tag, attach it to an item they want picked up and leave it at the curb.
Mayor Drew Dilkens says tags would be available at a variety of locations. "Whatever the retailer would be, likely multiple retailers would sell vouchers to them, whether a sticker or tag, residents could purchase the voucher, if you have a couch, you put the couch to the curb and put the sticker on the item."
Dilkens says the program would cost the city about $200,000.
He admits it would not eliminate illegal dumping but it would give residents an easy option for getting rid of items they don't want.
Budget deliberations start January 23rd.
