The Province's Special Investigations Unit is looking into a shooting involving two Windsor police officers at Countryside Village Trailer Park in south-Windsor.
Windsor Police Services were called to Bonita St. just off Division Rd in Windsor at around 6pm Sunday.
"Information while the officers were on route to that call for service was that an adult male was outside at the location in possession of a weapon," according to Sgt. Steve Betteridge. "Our patrol officers soon arrived on scene from receiving that call, interacted with the man, and during their interaction the police fired their issued firearms."
Betteridge says officers sought medical attention for the 49-year-old man — who the SIU confirmed sustained life threatening injuries.
"There were no other reported injuries, and due to the circumstances officers secured the scene and notified the SIU," he added.
The SIU will take control of the investigation moving forward and asks anyone with information to call 1-800-787-8529.
