Today is Black Friday, and one deal today you won't want to return.
The Windsor/Essex County Humane Society is offering a deal to adopt a new furry friend.
On Black Friday only, all primarily black animals will have their adoption fees discounted by 50 per cent.
Those interested can either visit the Adoption Centre, located at 1375 Provincial Road in Windsor, between 1:30 p.m. and 6 p.m., but applications will also be accepted online for the entire day.
Melanie Coulter, Executive Director for the WECHS, says the deal is for all primarily black animals.
"It's Black Friday and there's sales going on everywhere but we have what we think is the best one around. You can adopt a furry friend for 50 per cent off, and that's 50 per cent off the regular adoption fee of any primarily black animal."
She says the deal will only be for the day.
"This is all day Friday online, so Friday, November 24. And then our Adoption Centre is open as well between 1:30 [p.m.] and 6 [p.m.]. So we will take applications all day, but also we're open for walk-ins during those hours."
She says she's hoping many animals will be adopted.
"Historically shelters have worried that discounting adoption fees means that people won't care for their animals. But we have found that it really is just a nudge to help a lot of animals find homes, and we have a lot of animals, especially cats, right now so we're hoping to find many of them great homes."
Coulter adds that she recommends those who are interested to look online first at the animals that are available, as those applications are viewed based on order of applying.
Final determination of "primarily black" animals will be made by WECHS.
