It's back to work today for support staff at the Windsor-Essex Catholic District School Board.
They hit picket line October 17th but ended the five week strike on Saturday after ratifying a new deal with the board.
The workers include office, clerical staff and technicians along with custodians, maintenance staff and campus ministers.
School board spokesperson Stephen Fields says "the principals and the administration team did a good job of keeping the schools clean during the strike but there's a lot of catching up to do. We were just focused on maintaining the schools and making sure the students get the education throughout. We fell behind in a few areas but we're confident we can catch-up on all of those and get back to normal."
"The school board director has asked all the principals to hold a meeting with the returning staff on Monday morning" according to Fields. "Just to more or less address the elephant in the room and say this happened, it was unpleasant and challenging for a lot of people but as a system we need to heal, mend some relationships and get beyond what happened so we can get back to taking care of our students.
