Amherstburg wants to "Canuck It Up" for Canada's 150th birthday.
That's the theme for a festival being held August 5th and 6th.
Organizer Anne Rota says she's excited to bring all things Canadian to the town's riverfront this summer.
"Canuck it up ... eh?" says Rota. "We are just over the moon to present this festival and like I said Amherstburg has always been for some reason somewhere people want to congregate whenever there's a celebration or a party, and party on we do in August."
Rota tells AM800 News the biggest rubber duck in the world will be floating into shore for the event. At 161 ft, she says it will definitely draw some attention.
"The worlds largest duck in support of Ducks Unlimited Canada. It's going to be sitting at the end of Richmond St. and it comes all the way from the Netherlands and will be in Amherstburg," says Rota.
There will be other attractions and acitvities if ducks aren't your thing.
"It will be all day long performances by the lumberjack show, Rhythm of the Nation, which is a full fusion dancers on the street. Food trucks and as one of the councillors said, beaver tails."
Rota adds the town will use the event to announce 150 Amherstburg residents who will receive Canada 150 medals for their contribution to the community. Nominations begin in May.
