Enwin and Windsor Police are warning residents to be on the lookout for a potential door-to-door scam.
Enwin received a call this week from a customer saying someone had tried to gain access to her home by telling her that watermain work was scheduled for her street and they needed to inspect her plumbing to verify she had copper pipes.
The resident said the stranger did not have an Enwin badge so she didn't let them in. She then called Enwin to report the incident.
Enwin Spokesperson Barbara Peirce Marshall says it was the right thing to do.
Windsor police say it is important to question the identity of any door-to-door person and you are not obligated to let a stranger into your home.
