A home comfort specialist is reminding everyone about the importance of maintaining your home furnace during the very cold winter months.
Fairhall's Tony Obeid says furnaces work extremely hard in the cold and regular maintenance is needed. "It's very very important that you maintain your equipment at home and the simplest things you can do is to check that filter. Make sure that filter has been replaced or cleaned, you want to make sure that furnace can breathe properly, if it doesn't, it's going to overwork itself and it's going to cause itself to shutdown."
"Many customers ask what's the ideal temperature to set the furnace at" says Obied. "I tell everybody 70F is beautiful, if you can handle 70-71F that's great. I've gone into people's homes where they got it set at 68, 67F. Hey more power to you put on a sweater."
Obeid told AM800's 'The Afternoon News' we wouldn't drive a car for a year without a tune-up or an oil change and furnaces are no different.
