Toronto becomes the first Canadian team to win an NBA title after defeating Golden State 114110 in game 6 Thursday night

The Toronto Raptors have made NBA and franchise history after winning their first championship over the Golden State Warriors Thursday night.

Kyle Lowry and Pascal Saikam netted 26-points each to help pace the Raptors to a 114-110 victory in game 6 to take the series 4-2.

It's the first title to come north of the border in league history and the first championship for the team since it entered the NBA way back in 1995.

The win also halts a 26-year drought for Canada in professional sports — the last team to win a pro title was the 1993 MLB Champion Toronto Blue Jays.

Kawhi Leonard has been named MVP of the 2019 NBA Finals, he had 22 points and six rebounds in game 6.

More than 1,000 people were in Charles Clark Square to celebrate at Windsor's Jurassic Park.
