A major road re-construction project in Windsor is set to begin this spring.
The city will be doing road work on Huron Church Rd between Dorchester Rd. and Malden Rd.
Executive Director of Operations Dwayne Dawson says the 650 metre stretch will undergo a full re-construction and is expected to begin in April.
He says construction will last about 90 days and will impact traffic in both directions.
"North and side bound will be one direction at time," says Dawson. "Traffic will be reduced to a single lane each direction, all put on one side of the road while the other side is completely re-done.
He says expect some delays.
"With that kind of volume that road moves, there will be some back-ups and I'm anticipating the commuter traffic that uses that road will probably find alternate routes because of the delays," says Dawson.
The cost of the project is $5.5-million. The province is chipping in $3-million.
City council did approve a noise exemption from April 1st to July 31st.
It will allow crews to work 24 hours a day if needed.
The city will provide details on the re-construction project this Thursday at a Public Information session.
The session will be held from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Holiday Inn on Huron Church Rd.
