UPDATE Windsor Man Arrested in Highway 3 Crash

A Windsor man has now been arrested after a head-on crash on Highway 3 resulted in a manhunt.
Two vehicles collided on Highway 3 between County Rd. 8 and Victoria Ave. around 12pm last Friday June 21 and police say one of the drivers fled the scene on foot.
The other driver was sent to hospital with life-threatening injuries and a passenger in the same vehicle was treated and released from hospital with less serious injuries.
Essex County OPP say 32-year-old Stephen Brewster of Windsor was arrested on Thursday by the OPP's Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement (ROPE) unit.
He has been charged with two counts of dangerous operation causing bodily harm, failing to stop at an accident scene resulting in bodily harm, possession of property obtained by crime, three counts of driving while under suspension, operation of a motor vehicle with no insurance and using a licence plate not authorized for a vehicle.

A family member says the victim, 20-year-old Maresa Cappelli, was driving home from a job interview with her father when the crash happened.
She's now in a coma at a London hospital with a broken hand, broken jaw, broken ear canal and brain swelling. Her father Frank was also in the vehicle, he was treated and released with broken ribs.
According to a GoFundMe page created to help the family with travel and medical expenses — Maresa, "swerved to avoid the collision, in doing so she took the brunt of the collision and saved our fathers life."
Police are still gathering information as part of the investigation.
