UPDATE 31 of 32 New COVID19 Cases in AgriFarm Sector
The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit (WECHU) is reporting an increase of 32 cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours for a total of 1,329 cases.
31 of those cases are in agri-farm sector workers. A total of 68 deaths are being reported while 784 cases are considered resolved.
The health unit continues to deal with an outbreak at one long-term care home where a staff member tested positive and seven workplaces, all in Leamington and Kingsille, have two ore more cases of COVID-19.
Medical Officer of Health Dr. Wajid Ahmed announced on Monday morning that the health unit will return to daily briefings on YouTube Live as of Tuesday at 9:30 a.m..
Dr. Ahmed says after suspending the daily updates a few weeks a go, more questions have started to arise from the public as it relates to Stage 1 and Stage 2.
"We feel that there is this connection, this question that we are getting from the public and basically the feedback from the public is that they want to hear from us, directly from us."
According to CTV News, Windsor-Essex will be the only region not permitted to enter Stage 2 of the province's reopening framework.
