Tecumseh to Introduce Veteran Parking Spots

The Town of Tecumseh is honouring its veterans with a small token of appreciation.
Two dedicated veteran parking spots are being installed in the town — one at the Royal Canadian Legion on Remie St., the other at town hall.
Deputy mayor Joe Bachetti put the initiative together and says the spots will be close to the entrance and marked with the poppy.
He says a couple of parking spots is the least the town can do.
"We need to show our ongoing support for our veterans not only for Remembrance Day, which we obviously do, doing something simple like promoting two parking spots in our municipal parking lots to show the appreciation that we have for the veterans."

Bachetti says he'd like to see more spots in the future.
"This is a small step, but if there's other opportunities whether it be at municipal buildings, we're looking at the arena expansion or other places that we can honour and promote the remembrance of our veterans I think it's important. So we want to continue that."
He's hoping other municipalities follow suit.
"The Town of Kingsville, I believe there's another municipality that has already done something like this. Last year I put this forward, so I'm glad to see this come to fruition. It's something little that we can do, but also promotes that awareness, not only for the veterans, but for the public in general."
Bachetti says the goal is to have the spots ready for Remembrance Day on Novemeber 11.
