It appears the town of Kingsville has a new councillor.
Monday night, town council voted 4-2 in favour of appointing the candidate, John Driedger, who was the runner-up in the last election to replace Sandra McIntrye who resigned her seat due to personal reasons.
AM800 News contacted Driedger who said he is interested in the post.
"I'm really anxious to get going, I'm nervous a little bit but I want to get started," he said.
Driedger has a background in urban planning, did some teaching and worked at Canada Customs.
Even though there is a year left on council, he believes it is enough time to make a difference.
"It is definitely enough time to get involved in some projects and enough time to see if I got what it takes."
Driedger hopes to attend the next council meeting as a councillor.
A by-election would have cost the town $55,000.
