Homeowners can nominate themselves or someone they know by filling out the form.

A local roofing company is looking to give back to someone in need.

Dayus Roofing, in partnership with GAF Roofing, has launched an initiative called 'Roof Rescue' and is looking to donate a brand new roof to a homeowner in need in the Windsor-Essex community.

Individuals will have until April 30 to submit a nomination for someone who is in need of a new roof.

Homeowners can nominate themselves or someone they know by filling out the form.

The program was previously in partnership with 'No Roof Left Behind' which ran in 2015 to 2017.

Frank Dayus, President and Owner of Dayus Roofing, says they've been waiting to return with this program.

"We're in need of nominations, so if anybody knows anyone that needs a new roof, you can visit our website and nominate them. But ultimately we're just trying to find someone that's fallen on some hard times and perhaps it's not easy for them to afford a new roof at this point."

He says the selection process is based on voting.

"After the first month it goes to a panel that selects three finalists. And then from those three finalists we open up voting to the public and so from that point, you have to get online and vote for who you think is most deserving, and that's ultimately how we select the winner of the program."

Dayus says it's a great feeling to be able to give back.

"To find those nominations to get everybody to rally together behind this program, it's been a great experience the first three times that we did it and so we're really excited to bring it back this year, now as 'Roof Rescue'."

Finalists will be announced on May 31.

Dayus Roofing has been a part of the Windsor-Essex community for over 100 years.
