AUDIO Caesars Windsor Strike Over
Third time is a charm.
The strike at Caesars Windsor has ended as members of Unifor Local 444 voted 75% in favour of a third tentative deal.
Close to 2,000 of the 2,100 members cast ballots at the Ciociaro Club today on the three-year deal.
Local President Dave Cassidy says language in the deal will prevent a situation like the abrupt closing of the Artists Cafe, which upset the members.
"They've been concerned about outsourcing other departments so we were able to secure a letter based on that for the outsourcing, contracting out of any department — along with the enhanced language that we have, we have very good language that's there today." he says.

The rejection of the four-year tentative deal on May 18th left a divided membership according to Cassidy. He says "That's a little bit problematic when you've got almost a split membership on that issue and for whatever reason it was, the people wanted to just get back to work they were happy with the four-year-deal, but listen we never hit the mark, this time we hit the mark."
Erlinda Roque was vocal after the May 18th raification vote, saying the community would think they are all 'fools.'
Today, she had a very different response, saying "today, I am ecstatic, I'm in heaven, we should have done this last contract. I'm so happy."
Another worker, Debbie, tells AM800 News the language improvement makes a big difference.
"Overall I'd say job security, I'm really happy with that clause but I was fortunate enough to be in a department where it was already in place in that department," she says. "But it's nice to see that somebody's not going to wake up in the morning and their venue is closed and they're going to get shot down."
